Following Global Recycling Day (18 March 2026), we’ve taken time to reflect on what this year’s theme, “Don’t Think Waste — Think Opportunity,” truly means — not just globally, but within our own business.
Reframing Waste as Value
Global Recycling Day introduces the concept of recyclables as the “Seventh Resource” — alongside water, air, oil, natural gas, coal, and minerals.
It’s a powerful reminder: what we often discard still holds value.
With only 16% of global waste currently recycled, the opportunity ahead is significant — environmentally and economically. Research suggests that rethinking waste could unlock up to $4.5 trillion in global economic growth by 2030.

• Guest education�Through our Concierge digital guest guides, encouraging sustainable behaviours during every stay.
• Reclaimed materials�From restoration to landscaping, we actively repurpose materials to reduce environmental impact.
Beyond Recycling — A Circular Mindset
Recycling is only one part of the solution.
At Harper Luxe, we are focused on the 3Rs — Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, ensuring we minimise waste before it is even created.

Why It Matters
Recycling already prevents over 700 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, with potential to reach 1 billion tonnes by 2030.
